Hurricane Katrina took away all his possessions and left him only with three changes of clothes and a car to temporarily live in with his family. In the middle of the chaos and the aftermath of Katrina, our host was longing for God’s comfort; he just wanted to be held by the Lord.
But then something happened that prompted him to praise. Wait. What? Praise? During the storm? Praising was something he didn’t want to do at that moment, but later discovered that he needed to.
In this episode of Coffee With Jesus, our host—Todd—talks about those moments when praising God is hard. He discusses the meaning of “a sacrifice of praise” in Hebrews 13:15-16, in part asking how can praise be a sacrifice?
Indeed, there are times when praising God is difficult; the storm is too harsh, and we don’t find the energy to elevate praises. But when we do, an infilling of strength and comfort helps us push through the storm. And we find ourselves being held by Jesus.
Listen to this episode to learn how Todd found the strength and comfort he needed through a sacrifice of praise—when praising God is the sacrifice. Listen to his account to know what happened afterward.
